Met Home of the Month: December 2009
Tuesday, December 29, 2009 | Category: Uncategorized

British design star Kelly Hoppen won the Met Home of the Month award not for one of the home’s of her many clients, but for the amazing renovation of her own London townhouse. Having lived in and renovated many homes myself, I can appreciate the difficulties but also the great reward in working with your own home. Kelly puts it well when she says that undertaking her own projects, “makes me a better interior designer, and feeling vulnerable about spending buckets of money keeps me in tune with my clients.” I can definitely commiserate with her on that one! Check out the photos of Kelly’s beautifully renovated home below.

I’ve always admired Hoppen’s tailored style. It’s always fun to see a designer’s own home – love that kitchen. She seems to have brought out the best of her style here. Lovely.

Kelly has renovated with her full potential. Also when you are living in a house since years and thinking to renovate it then you must have better ideas about the usability of the furnitures you are going to set.
Thanks.

While I admire her aesthetic, personally it would be too cold and austere for me to live in…it all looks too perfect and no patterns…but, she is a world-class designer.

Sarah,
It is interesting how a space can denote the beholders personality. You might need to whip up a bit more color in your home- but get the bones of Kelly’s aesthetic. That is what makes our rooms hopefully different from the next persons’.
Thank you for noticing the difference!

Laurelstreet,
The best thing about seeing a designer’s own home is that they can be the boss and do exactly as he/she sees fit.
You get the true personality and design visions that they dream about at night…
I have had a couple of those kind of dreams
