Mix Master

I am all about mixing old with new, classic with contemporary. I am a big believer that a home should be an intimate reflection of the owner’s personality and really cannot be boxed into a single style. I treat every home differently and don’t implement a “signature stamp” onto any project. In the end, its the homeowner who has to live in it, and I want it to be something personal and beautiful that they can enjoy and take comfort in for years to come. When you think that pieces have nothing in common remember that they have in common what is most important, the fact that you love them. And often times, it is unexpected pairings that turn out the best.
Check out this home in Chicago Home + Garden that epitomizes my mentality of live in what you love, not what you think you should love. I adore how this home pulls together unexpected elements literally from across the globe to create a cozy haven that is truly one-of-a-kind.

These are some great ideas! People often forget that they can re-purpose things they already have.

Love your point about living with what you love, not with what you think you should love. I also like to get my clients to incorporate things they love, and then figure it’s my job to pull those things together. This place is beautiful. I even like the giant gray painting with the gray drapes in the living room. Yummy!

This house is actually now for sale… not sure if it comes furnished or not though! Wouldn’t that be nice? (although still completely out of my price range). I also noticed their office space has a “for rent” sign (just live down the street from it). Wonder what happened?

to be honest i love the accessories more than the dress-up, the nominal accessories made a perfect home

Maren,
No idea why all is for sale/rent. I just hope that it is for another great opportunity
The simple, timeless elegance of this home is what caught my eye. Love to repurpose- many pieces in a home have such a great provenance that one could never replace!

Now that is my idea of a perfectly decorated house – Chic, but interesting, minimalist, but full of character. Thanks for sharing!
