Fall is upon us in Chicago and although I will miss the Summer, I am looking forward to the changing leaves, beautiful autumn colors, and of course, all things pumpkin. Pumpkin Spice Latte, yes please!

With Fall also comes the annual festival that takes place in the heart of the Grand Avenue Design District where I am happy to call home to my Buckingham Interiors + Design Studio and Showroom! Formerly known as Design Harvest, the all-new Grand Art & Design Festival will take place in West Town on Saturday, September 26th and Sunday, September 27th from 11 am to 8 pm.

The festival will continue the Design Harvest tradition of showcasing local home and garden design vendors, however this year there is much, much more!

Local artisans, handmade goods, clothing, jewelry designers, neighborhood vendors, a Happy Hour, and live music…

Everyone loves a great food truck as well. Enjoy everything from tamales to lobster rolls, mac n’ cheese to cupcakes!

Bring the kiddos as there are also hayrides and lots of family activities.

I will be opening the doors of my Buckingham I+D Showroom the entire weekend of the festival. Come check out the beautiful new art exhibits by Artists Francine Turk and Richard Shipps, special festival pricing on the entire Showroom of Modernique® accessories, furniture, and lighting, and also my new Julia Buckingham for Global Views Collection (Don’t think I will ever get tired of saying that!:))

**Stop in Thursday and Friday for 1st Dibs! Showroom is open 11am-6pm**

Lafco New York Candles at Buckingham I+D Showroom

The holidays are truly the most wonderful time of the year…friends, family, and an occasion to eat as much food as you want without guilt?  Love it!  With Thanksgiving being last week, the official holiday shopping season has begun!  I am thrilled to announce that my Buckingham Interiors + Design Showroom is now carrying all sorts of goodies that will make just the perfect gift for your chic friends, coworkers, loved ones…whoever!

I am so excited to now be a vendor of Lafco New York Candles.  They are seriously some of the best candle fragrances that I have ever come across, and one of the best parts is that they are all named after rooms or types of houses!  Perfect for the design lover, don’t you think?  Not to mention, they have been listed as one of “Oprah’s Favorite Things” a number of times.  Gotta trust the O 🙂

We will also be carrying a variety of other gift-giving must haves!  Be sure to stop by our showroom at 1820 W. Grand Ave. in Chicago to say hello and check out our selection in person.  Don’t forget!  We’re now open on Saturdays from 10 AM- 6 PM.

Happy Festive Shopping Season to you all!

xx Julia and the B I+D Team (Colette, Brenna, Paulina, Leah, Marla, Nancy + Rebekah)

The Material Girls for the Design Bloggers Tastemaker Sale!

In addition to being an interior designer, I have owned antique and art design showrooms from Cincinnati to Chicago, so exhibiting products that I am passionate about has long been an important part of my career.  I can’t wait to share some of the best from my collection with OKL followers.

Looking forward to the One Kings Lane Design Bloggers Tastemakers Tag Sale beginning this Tuesday, February 28th at 6 PM EST…I hope all Material Girls out there have a chance to check it out!

Upholstered Bergere

So excited that several of the Material Girls (Lauren, Emily and I) will be part of the Design Bloggers Tastemakers Tag Sale on One Kings Lane!  OKL, which I now affectionately call it within my office, selected 10 of their favorite interior design blogs to participate in this grandiose event. Of all of the various projects inside the design world which I have been involved in, this one is definitely right up there towards the top…working with my fellow MG contributors is always a thrill. I am reminded of my previous years as the owner of an antiques store in Cincinnati and also of my exhibit’s within the antiques world at shows in Chicago, NYC, The Hampton’s and LA.  Bringing me back to my roots a bit 🙂

In prep for our big debut, I thought I’d feature several of my favorites on OKL today.  Be sure to stop by the Design Bloggers Tastemakers Tag Sale on One Kings Lane beginning Tuesday, February 28th at 6 PM PST!  Can’t wait!

{Set of 50 Fretwork Coasters, $29 from One Kings Lane}

Now that the turkey coma is starting the wear off, the holiday spirit is really starting to set in.  While I have never been one to rush out to stores at the crack of dawn on Black Friday, the “cyber” Black Friday movement is right up my alley.  I could really do all of my holiday shopping with the click of a mouse.  Deals and steals without even leaving the settee!  Ok, I guess the turkey coma hasn’t totally worn off just yet…

Check out some of my favorite Black Friday finds from around the web…you just have saved yourself from undue stress this season.  Imagine having the shopping for all of your friends and family finished early this year?!   That spa day that you always envisioned (and rightfully so) around the middle of December may actually be possible this year 🙂

{ Big Bloom Twin XL Sheet Set; Regular $26.00 – $49.00 SPECIAL $19.00 – $22.00}

With the start of school just around the corner, (seriously, where has this summer gone?!) it’s time to start loading up supplies for your son or daughter.  If your child is heading back to middle school or high school, you’re probably making a beeline for Target right about now.  If he or she is heading back to college, you’re probably scrambling to find bedding/room decor to liven up that cinder block, cell-like dorm room that is pretty much standard at any college throughout the country.

A great place to find affordable and fun college age bedding and furnishings is PB Teen.  Yes, at times it can be a little kitschy but using select items for pops of color can really make cold, sterile dorm room feel more warm and inviting.  Check out PB Teen’s twin xl bedding selection (plus some cool throw pillows) for some eye catching and well-priced options for that strangely sized dorm bed.  Be sure to scroll all the way to the bottom for a selection of guy’s bedding too.

Roses are Red…

And Branca is too!  Our favorite queen of red (white and black too, of course) is Alessandra Branca, and for Valentine’s Day weekend all red items in her Chicago boutique are 30% off!  What a nice way to show someone (or yourself!) that you care.

Even if you don’t find any LOVE-ly crimson hued goods to bring home, the store itself is quite a treat.  Be sure to check it out 17 E. Pearson, Chicago.

Twas the Day(s) After Christmas…

…And everyone is shopping the sales!  Almost a bigger event than Christmas itself these days is the sales that start the following day.  My daughters and I will most likely be out and about looking for that extra something that just didn’t seem to make it under the Christmas tree.  Many of my favorite names in interiors will be marking down their products as well!  Here are some of my favorite markdowns.
