No Love for Uma
Thursday, October 14, 2010 | Category: Celebs
Uma Thurman’s five story NYC townhouse is currently up for sale and going for $14.2 million! I discovered this today while reading Perez and was a little surprised when I viewed the slideshow of her former home. The home’s design is far from what I envisioned the Kill Bill star’s house to look like.

During her rise to stardom, Uma has played out many personalities….
but never did I take her for the white slipcovers type? A white and blush color palette and an overall formal, dainty residence is a stark contrast to some of the characters Uma has played over the years (and it definitely wasn’t what I would have pictured for her real life persona!) Why did I think she was more boho chic and eclectic than this? Am I dreaming?

Some of the comments on Perez are not too favorable either. Most reviews gave it a thumbs down. Some comments- “it looks like my grandmother’ s house” and “no wonder Ethan Hawke left”. Ouch! Do you think it’s as bad as they say it is? What type of place would you have envisioned for Uma?

except for the lighting, which is rather chic, it totally reeks of elderly spinster. no good, uma- call me for your next digs!

Ugh, BORING. I agree, I would have pegged her for bright and rich boho colors

The style of her townhouse perfectly reflects the easy style that she grew up enjoying on Martha’s Vineyard. Her family enjoyed a simple outdoor summer life in an old captains house on a beautiful stretch of countryside on the Vineyard, where life is spent outside, not in. What a shame that she not only is judged by how she looks all the time – now she is judged by the way her house looks on the INSIDE.

Loving the design of this townhouse, homey, lived in, great design… not everyone lives in the kind of home you would expect them too, I help design clients everyday and you would be surprized by how different everyone is from everyone else… I think she has wonderful taste….

Well, not at all what I would have expected from her… It’s not ugly but it’s definitely not very chic…
Let’s hope she’ll make it better in the new place
Also wanted to share some great news with you. I’ve ordered some really nice classic enamel signs from http://www.ramsign.com for my house wall today. I’m so happy and just can’t wait for it to arrive, what do you think?

I don’t think it’s “spinsterly” at all! I love the living room, with the mix of antiques, the wood slat coffee table, the curtains across the doorway… it’s very timeless & comfortable, in my opinion.
Maybe this is just one of her homes, not the only. And playing all those crazy roles, she probably needs a place to come home to that is a little more calm.

Unfortunately, actors rarely actually know who they are anyway! This may have been more a response to a character she was playing than to her own wants.
