The La Plates giveaway has come to an end, and the winner is Kristin from Moscow, Idaho! She is the proud new owner of a set of 8 fabulous dinner plates and a matching platter! Congrats Kristin!!

Kristin sent us a little info about herself and her fave material, paper! She and her husband used to own a bookstore together (so cute!), and that’s where her love of old vintage prints and well designed end pages began! Kristin said, “One time I struck gold and found a box filled with hundreds of vintage wrapping papers. It made my heart sing!… So I got busy. I found basic white and black frames – and framed away! It was great too because if I got tired of a pattern, out it went without much expense and on to a new one!” She also uses decorative paper as matting for pictures! Kristin is definitely a Material Girl at heart, so creative!

She likes the idea of the red block geometric pattern with just a simple initial similar to the one below. Perfect for holiday parties!

We hope you enjoy your gorgeous new set of plates and matching platter Kristin! Thank you to all of our readers who participated and the good news is- the La Plates giveaways are not over either! They are giving away tabletops on their Facebook page within the next few weeks!

Last night Kelly Wearstler came to Neiman’s in Dallas to promote her new fashion line.  When I heard she was coming, of course I had to go check out her creations in person! Needless to say, they did not disappoint.

Of course the first thing I noticed was that she used her Tracery rug that she designed for the Rug Company in her “store within a store”.

Remember my client Stacey who stayed at Viceroy Anguilla a few Spring Break’s ago?  Well, she is equally as smitten with Kelly as I am, so she joined me on this little fashion adventure-

Stacey almost walked out with this pink chair…too bad it wasn’t for sale!

I noticed Kelly used a lot of blues in her collection. Super cute jacket-

LOVED all the jewelry, especially the cuff bracelets!

More cute jackets for Fall…

Leslie Pritchard from Again and Again chatting with Kelly..I’ve always thought they looked like sisters so it was too weird to finally see them right next to each other!

These scarves would make great winter gifts for someone who loves bold colors and prints-

And more of her fabulous jewelry-

Even her models were gorgeous!

I wonder if anyone else caught on to the fact that this mannequin’s outfit was so careful coordinated to the colors in the rug?

And then right before she departed, we managed to squeeze in a quick photo with Mrs. Wearstler, which was a fun ending to the night. She was wearing a jacket from her new collection and looked very pulled together (as usual)…

Now that we have entered the month of November… tasty holiday drinks are back on the menu, stores are stocking shelves with holiday decorations, and it is finally time for the once-a-year Dallas Sample Sale!! Trust us you don’t want to miss it!

This fabulous event starts with a preview night this Thursday, November 3rd, from 6-9 p.m. and lasts all weekend! The Dallas Sample Sale takes place at the Dallas Market Center (see directions here).  This is your chance to get a head start on all of your holiday shopping and get amazing gifts at wholesale prices! There is something for everyone on your list… Jewelry, toys, children’s clothing, home accessories, holiday decorations, furniture… you name it there’s a showroom for it!

Also, the Salvation Army Angel Tree program will kick-off during the preview event on Thursday! Shoppers can make selections for their angel and drop them off that night, if they’d like!

The sale takes place Thursday evening from 6-9 p.m., Friday-Saturday 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Last year’s sale drew more than 15,000 people! Tickets are only $20 at the door so don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity! See you there!

This holiday season I will be a featured vendor at Hope for the Holidays, a fundraiser benefiting Catholic Charities of Dallas! The event will take place Friday, November 18th, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Pettigrew Associates in the Dallas Design District! It is such a great fundraiser and we would love for all Dallas MG readers to come out and support!

We are creating a glitzy “Hollywood Regency Holiday Tree” to be auctioned off at the event as well as revamping furniture from their World of Goods store with fresh paint and fabric that will be available for purchase that night! All proceeds from the auction will go toward the Catholic Charities of Dallas – giving hope to thousands of struggling families this holiday season.

The Hope for the Holidays event will feature local vendors, artists, businesses and more showcasing unique services and merchandise to shop from! This would be the perfect opportunity for you to grab some great one-of-a-kind gifts for your family! Also, as I mentioned before, there will be an exciting silent auction where you can bid on designer themed table-top Christmas trees and and baskets! Who wouldn’t want a fabulous themed Christmas tree to spice up the dining table this season?! PLUS there will be food, wine, and signature cocktail tastings from top caterers, hotels, and shops in Dallas! For a sneak peek at some of the vendors that will be featured this year visit the Catholic Charities of Dallas website HERE.

Tickets are $35 pre-sale and $40 at the door, so hurry and get yours because you don’t want to miss this amazing event! You can even purchase your tickets online HERE!

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good sisal, but lately I’ve been completely obsessed with statement-maker rugs at all price points. These rugs usually consist of a large pattern- a modern floral or geometric print.

I just had a geometric patterned rug custom-made for a client in a gray and beige color combo (not a combination you see very often), and I love how it turned out!

I’m thinking of using this orange Arabesque rug from Global Views for a male client’s bedroom…(and he went to OSU too- very fitting!)

This rug is actually about to come out in gray..all I can say is wowza! I’ll be lining up for that one too…

This Tracery rug designed by Kelly Wearstler for the Rug Company is it for me….I’d be happy with just this rug for the rest of my life-

You have to see it in the dramatic room setting to truly appreciate it-

Lauren and Sara at Decorative Carpets come out to Dallas every few months and update us on all their amazing new goodies…the quality of their rugs is amazing and I’m really loving their Minorca pattern

Although Merida is known mostly for their solid natural rugs, they also carry graphic patterned sisals by Barclay Butera.  This classic stripe has texture, pattern and color, and wouldn’t be something that you would tire of quickly-

FLOR just opened up a retail showroom right near my house off Knox and so I got to see this out-of-this-world chevron pattern there a few weeks ago and all I have to say is that I need to use this pattern somewhere ASAP!

I have to admit, this new Talaa rug made of luxurious mohair from Restoration Hardware is pretty unbelievable.

Barbara Barry knows how to make that icy gray-blue color in just about every product you can imagine. Here it is again in her Moire nickel rug design for Tufenkian-

For only $199, you really can’t go wrong with this IKEA Stockholm rug

For a softer, more elegant look, I think an Oushak can be really pretty (especially in a bedroom or a more formal living room). I love this muted rug from William Sonoma Home

I’ve been waiting to use this Thomas O’Brien Ikat rug for what feels like forever!

The lime green color in this Anthropologie Coqo rug really gets me energized! This rug comes in as large as a 9×12.

And last but not least, this graphic rug from Horchow, inspired by a tile from the archives of the Smithsonian would look really dramatic with dark walls in a home office or library-

This morning, the EJ Interiors team took a little field trip to the Global Views warehouse sale! We got there right at 9 a.m. thinking we would be the only ones there… but the place was already packed! It was crazy and definitely took a lot of work, but we walked away with some AMAZING bargains!

There were rows and rows of tables covered in fabulous accessories…vases, candelabras, mirrors, trays, lamps, fabric, furniture, anything you could imagine… and people were grabbing everything in sight!

These etageres are to die for! I wanted to buy them all.

We started a little pile of our finds (which eventually grew into a HUGE pile), and continued adding as we discovered more!

Look at the assortment of trays we rounded up! We ended up buying two of the quatrefoil ones for ourselves 🙂 And the cream Barbara Barry tray was a steal! Wouldn’t these look great on a coffee table or ottoman?

Amazing selection of mirrors. We came back with two of these also…

This was a great set but we really wanted a few more to finish it off so…

We decided on this set of 6! Not really sure where they are going yet but somebody needs these!

And finally, here are a few pictures of our THREE dollies full of goodies! Please don’t show my husband these photos…

These lamp shades might be going in the office or be made into a funky light fixture for a client!

These vases were a hit! (Everyone kept trying to grab them!) They are real silver leaf and imported from Italy! Such a good buy.

As you can tell, we had a wonderful time and came home with A LOT of great stuff! Now we just have to find a place to put it all!

The Global Views warehouse is located at 7301 Ambassador Row in Dallas and sale ends tomorrow at noon! Definitely worth a visit!

For the past month, we’ve been hard at work on a vignette for Dwell with Dignity’s new Thrift Studio store which just opened up in the design district here in Dallas.  Five local designers were asked to plan out a room vignette using Dwell’s vintage furniture and accessories from their warehouse, as well as other donations from the design community.  We had so much fun on this project because it was different from any other project we had done before. We really had to stretch our creativity on this one! We had a really short time to complete it in, limited resources, and virtually no budget, but we were definitely up for the challenge!

Taking this lackluster space from this-

{Before}

To this- in just a couple of weeks was a little bit of a stretch for EJ Interiors but somehow we managed to pull it off!

{After- EJ Interiors’ dining room vignette for Dwell with Dignity’s Thrift Studio opening}

Our room centered around bold orange and turquoise. The inspiration? A pair of these adorable chairs that we managed to dig up in Dwell’s warehouse…

The process was so unique that I had to take some photos along the way to document our Dwell journey!

Phase 1- All of the designers meet at Dwell’s warehouse to grab the pieces they want to use for their vignette.  I put everything in my little pile that could be a possibility for the space.  Now the question is- what in the world am I going to do with it all?

Phase 2- There was a lot to do in a little amount of time.  Since most of the things in the warehouse were older items, I knew that re-upholstering and re-painting furniture had to happen..and quick!

I couldn’t believe my luck in finding these four matching chairs in the warehouse…

And  then I was even more shocked to find the perfect turquoise fabrics hidden in a corner…

It was meant to be!

M&M Upholstery donated the upholstery labor and Nicole Horne of Modern Relics donated the painting labor for the chairs…what a fantastic team they made!

Phase 3- Time to get the room painted!  Twenty five Neiman Marcus volunteers came out to help us get our rooms ready and I must say that I couldn’t have done it without them!  They quickly helped my vision come to life and did such a great job painting the walls and trim.

I loved our little team! If any of you are reading this, thank you again so much!

The Thrift Studio starts coming together…

Loved the entrance!

Ok we are making some progress..drapes are almost up!

Phase Four- Completion! Everything is in place for the sneak preview party and so now we just wait for people to shop, shop, shop!

For those of you that weren’t able to make it for the great deals at the preview party last Friday, not to worry because the Thrift Studio pop up shop is open from now until October 29th- Monday through Saturday 10-5:30 pm at 1616 Hi Line Drive in Dallas.

So many great deals to be had and such an amazing way to help out a good cause!

We are so excited to announce that the winner of the Peacock Alley Soprano sheets giveaway is Ashley from Midland, Texas! Congratulations!

She is a girl after our own hearts…she graduated from OU with a degree in Interior Design! She is also a new mom of a two week old baby girl, so these luxurious sheets will provide a great getaway to sneak in some Z’s!

Ashley was also kind enough to provide us with some info on her favorite design material: fabric! This girl really knew what she was talking about!

“I love fabric because you can really make a space special with it. It’s easy to toss in a few new pillows or a throw on your couch, or change out your curtains with the season to make your space seem fresh. I love mixing graphic prints with stripes and solids with interesting textures.” – We couldn’t agree more!

She also told us that her major inspiration when it comes to fabric is Sarah Richardson. “I love that she doesn’t just use bolts of fabric in obvious ways, but can sew interesting tea towels into accent pillows or frame an interesting print fabric as artwork.” We love her work too!

Thanks so much for sharing Ashley, and congratulations again! We hope these sheets provide you with some much needed R&R! Also, thank you to all of the MG readers who participated.  Be on the lookout for the next MG giveaway coming soon!
