The New Queen of Bling

Posted By Emily-Dallas | Sep 26, 2012 | 2 Comments | Category: Celebs, Color, Fashion, Gifts, Trends

Fashionista and trend setter are just two ways to describe this new Queen of Bling!  If you haven’t already heard of this outstanding jewelry maker, there is a very good chance that you have unknowingly seen several celebrities wearing her fab colorful jewelry on the red carpet lately.  She is EVERYWHERE!

I have to say that I was so out of the Kendra loop until last weekend when my friends Lindsey and Beth gave me some of her earrings for my birthday (there is a Kendra Scott store in the West Village, here in Dallas apparently).  They were so adorbs that I had to put them on immediately and wear them out the rest of the night! It was such a fun surprise of a gift, and I should have known something was up when Lindsey called asking what my favorite color was earlier that day.  You see, Kendra doesn’t just make jewelry in a couple of colors, she has a RAINBOW spectrum of options! The colors in her jewelry are even good inspiration for a room design..I’m loving the green onyx and orange coral.

A little bit about Ms. Kendra…she got her start back in 2002, making her gorgeous creations out of the spare bedroom in her Austin, Texas home.  Today, you can find her fabulous earrings, necklaces, rings, and bracelets in three of her boutiques which are located in Dallas, Austin, and Beverly Hills.  You can also come across her items at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, and Lord and Taylor or purchase her beautiful bling on her website.

Modern Family’s Sofia Vergara in a pair a Kendra’s gorgeous chandelier style earrings.

Heiress Paris Hilton showing off a stunning pink jade necklace.

Kelly Osbourne dazzles in these show-stopping lapis and 14K yellow gold earrings

One of the things I love about Kendra’s web site is the “color bar” feature.  Here, you can create your own custom pieces with endless possibilities!  What a marvelous way to complete an outfit, by making your own Kendra Scott custom jewelry!  Below are just a few that I made on her web site that are sure to be showstoppers!

My husband gave his groosmen “themey” cufflinks last summer as gifts at our wedding…but I think Adrian or Geoff would have looked much more chic sporting Kendra’s teal cufflinks! (Ben however, might beg to differ :)

Take a look at a few of the other jewelry pieces that are available on her website!  With her large selection of semi-precious stones set in gold or silver,  there’s something to surely strike everyone’s fancy-

The La Plates giveaway has come to an end, and the winner is Kristin from Moscow, Idaho! She is the proud new owner of a set of 8 fabulous dinner plates and a matching platter! Congrats Kristin!!

Kristin sent us a little info about herself and her fave material, paper! She and her husband used to own a bookstore together (so cute!), and that’s where her love of old vintage prints and well designed end pages began! Kristin said, “One time I struck gold and found a box filled with hundreds of vintage wrapping papers. It made my heart sing!… So I got busy. I found basic white and black frames – and framed away! It was great too because if I got tired of a pattern, out it went without much expense and on to a new one!” She also uses decorative paper as matting for pictures! Kristin is definitely a Material Girl at heart, so creative!

She likes the idea of the red block geometric pattern with just a simple initial similar to the one below. Perfect for holiday parties!

We hope you enjoy your gorgeous new set of plates and matching platter Kristin! Thank you to all of our readers who participated and the good news is- the La Plates giveaways are not over either! They are giving away tabletops on their Facebook page within the next few weeks!

In Need of a Notepad?

Posted By Emily-Dallas | Dec 15, 2010 | 4 Comments | Category: Books, Gifts

I’m ALWAYS reaching for a notepad- especially during this crazy time of year.  My daily to-do lists seem to be getting longer as the holidays approach.  Most of my clients want their homes spruced up before they host their annual holiday parties and prior to family coming in.  To put it simply, the last few weeks and the next few weeks are hectic!

So of course, to keep organized I have my to-do lists all kept in a nice notebook- well maybe not that nice- a Mead Five Star from Walgreens.  I know, I’m out of college, so what I am doing still using these?

Today my notepad ran out of pages (gasp!) and to save myself from writing another item on my to-do list- “make a trip to Walgreens for to-do list notepad”, I saved myself a trip and found a fun notepad that someone from Archie Grand had kindly sent me a while back that I had been just waiting for the perfect opportunity to break out!  This is not just your average notepad…it’s actually stylish!  To be exact, it’s an adorable chartreuse notepad that caters to my profession.  I’m pretty sure that while Walgreens has everything else on the planet (god love ‘em), they don’t have one of these babies-

The “Designers I met and Liked” notepad by Archie Grand is awesome!  I love how it looks like a miniature book and is a lot less floppy than those $2 Walgreens pads with the metal spiral bound spine.  I really am a notepad’s worst critic, as I am attached at the hip to mine.

I had to post about Archie’s because I think it would make an adorable holiday gift.  Sure, not everyone’s a designer..but I bet you know some-

Secret Agents

Chefs

Actors

Husbands (from the past)

And if not, you can find a description of someone you know from their massive collection! They are all pretty comical! A+ Archie!

Like Mother, Like Daughter!

Posted By Emily-Dallas | May 02, 2010 | 4 Comments | Category: Fashion, Gifts

Now I know it’s tradition to showcase “materials” in the interior design sense on our blog; however, tonight I just couldn’t avoid going the fashion/ jewelry route with my post and had to spread the word about these fabulous accessories by Dallas jewelry designer, Elizabeth Showers.

These aren’t just your typical accessories either…they are like little pieces of art.  I can’t believe I just discovered her designs, (especially after following her mother’s interior design work for so long).  I am so glad I did, because her rings, bracelets, and necklaces are the ultimate jewelry eye candy!

Her accessories incorporate all of the colors and finishes that I tend to gravitate towards in the interior design world- such as turquoise/teal, emerald, gold, silver, pink, cobalt, and orange.  I am a girly-girl and so of course, I flock to her uber feminine, colorful designs that interject a glamorous touch.

Elizabeth credits both her grandmother and her mother as being inspirations to her creative development.  So in honor of Mother’s Day, I gathered my favorite designs by both mother and daughter of the Showers’ clan.  It’s pretty amazing to look at their work side by side and see how they influence eachother’s designs.  As they always say, like mother like daughter!

{Elizabeth’s Turtle Creek showroom will be open May 3rd and 4th, from 10 am-5 pm.  10% of retail sales at her showroom and on her website will be donated to two charitable causes- 2×2 and The Elisa Project from now through Mother’s Day}

3131 Turtle Creek Boulevard, Suite 1118

Dallas, TX 75219
