I’m wondering if “accessories” includes lighting…

**** I guess it would be helpful if I told you where the sale was!  Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams!

Paloma, of the fabulous blog, La Dolce Vita, has featured me today in her “Personal Style” series.  To read my spin on personal style, check out my guest blog here.

As much as I’ve expressed my love for Ebay, I actually just won my very first auction this weekend (I usually go for the “buy it now” option whenever possible).

What did I win?  1.5 yards of vintage La Fiorentina by David Hicks… quite possibly my favorite fabric ever!  I can’t wait to have two pillows made!

I hope you all had wonderfully relaxing weekends all the while remembering why we are actually off work today!  My grandfather has a purple heart and his war stories are truly ones for the history books.  Thank you, veterans for serving our country, and to the soldiers currently at home or abroad my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Furniture Friday: Bar Carts

Posted By Lauren-Houston | May 22, 2009 | 5 Comments | Category: Furniture

I was on the hunt for a bar cart forever…Emily actually spotted the one I own at White Elephant Antiques in Dallas and called me immediately.  Mine is brass bamboo…okay, that sounds really tacky when you write it out…ha ha!

Here are a few of my favorite picks for all different design styles…It’s fun to hunt online, but if you want a good deal on something really unique, hit up the consignment shops and antique stores in your area!  I love my gold one, but I still lament not getting the silver one I saw at the Guild Shop

Fun and Funky Bar Carts:

This lime green cart may scare those that went through the acid green phase in the 70’s but I love the color!

Again, I know many hear the word “rattan” and cringe, but in the right environment this could totally work!

Clean lined and simple…you just can’t go wrong with this cart.

The Duncan Bar Cart by Restoration Hardware is perfection.

I love the geometric lines of this cart by Mecox.

EBay jewel…I love the industrial feel, but yet it doesn’t feel like a sterilized cart in a doctor’s office.  So Bachelor chic!

This Milo Baughman Serving Cart from Pieces is a show-stopper!

I like the multiple levels on this cart…it really gives you a lot of options.

The Circa Bar Cart by Roost reminds me of the Jetson’s.

Keep in mind, a bar cart doesn’t have to be stocked to the brim with alcohol…I even like them stacked high with books!  They can be very fun to accessorize – mine is always changing!

I love searching for one-of-a-kind finds on Ebay.  When I saw this bamboo beauty I was instantly inspired to create an entire room for a young glamazon around it.  I decided to only use Ebay finds to finish off the space!

The first order of business would be to spray paint the headboard a glossy white.

I think these gold end tables have a youthful feel…to dress them up a little bit I would have my stone fabricator cut me a couple of carrera marble tops.

Two “Bourgie” lamps by Kartell on each table adds modern-baroque-glamour.

This desk is so fabulous, but the bright blue color…not so much.  I’d have it lacquered white or robin’s egg blue ASAP.

I’d use this as the desk chair, I love the punchy yellow color!

What girly-girl doesn’t love a little animal print??  This rug would be great underfoot.

The piece de resistance, a pint-size blue opaline chandelier!

Black and white stripes are always chic – I’d install this wallpaper on the ceiling.

Ebay has tons and tons of Pottery Barn Kids bedding…I think this is appropriate for a young girl but still a teeny bit dressy.

Now for some glamorous storage – I LOVE this pair of armoires.

I love the juxtaposition of this frilly venetian mirror over the lucite desk.

These slipper chairs are just too cute to resist!  To introduce a little pattern, I’d cheat and cover them in hot pink Paradise by Quadrille.

I love, love, love the colors in these portraits…we’ll pretend they’re portraits of the young girl’s glamorous grandmothers.

I couldn’t resist this hot pink vintage flamingo!

Last but not least, every girl needs a dollhouse!  How fabulous is this vintage Barbie dollhouse?!
