More Bathroom Love

I really do enjoy designing bathrooms…it’s always such a challenge – boy is that a euphemism!  I find them to be much, much harder than kitchens – and at times equally as expensive!  This post really doesn’t have much of a point…really it’s just about pretty pictures of bathrooms I like…

I think I will forever love this bathroom.  Forever.

Ahhh, I just love looking at the bathrooms designed by the husband/wife duo of Steve and Brooke Giannetti.  Every detail is executed flawlessly – trust me, they only make it look easy.  This kind of “perfection” requires and amazing eye, experience, and really great craftsmen.  I’m sure they could both attest that the, “devil is in the details.” Whenever I’m debating on a tile pattern detail or cabinetry embellishment I always scroll through Brooke’s blog, Velvet and Linen, to study their bathrooms and kitchens.  Simply Gorgeous!

House Beautiful brings beautiful images into our homes every month, I know I can’t hardly contain my excitement when my new issue comes in the mail.  You can imagine how honored we felt to be featured as one of their, “Sites to Love.”

house-beautiful

Their website is a great tool, if you haven’t visited please do!  Everything from Room Finders to Paint Advice can be accessed with just the click of the mouse!  I for one like perusing all their “Kitchen of the Month” photos.

The website also contains their regular monthly magazine features like, “Everywhere we Look.”  One of my favorites was when they featured Quatrefoils.

So if you are looking for a little fabric inspiration or would like to browse through photos of bathrooms, keep the House Beautiful website in mind…I know the Material Girls do!

The Southampton, New York home of ballet dancer Rita Norona Scrhrager is reallllly appealing to me after a long day on an very hot new construction jobsite (I wore all white just for the occasion).  Designed by Miami based Hernán Arriaga, the home is pure “comfortable glamour.”

What I love most is the mixture of antiques with modern and a touch of budget design ($50 end tables).  I also love that Rita told her girls, “it’s not how much it costs, it’s how you wear it.”  Amen, sister!

 When can I visit???

I was flipping through the latest Bathroom Trends magazine today at work and came across this gorgeous bed and bathroom designed by Jamie Herzlinger. Inspired by 40′s drama and the work of Richard Neutra and Rudolph Schindler, her personal Master Suite has plenty of sparkle.

The Master Bedroom’s walls are finished with Venetian plaster, while the Bathroom walls are dressed in Donghia Raffia.  Jamie is certainly all about texture…the club chairs are upholstered in a Donghia silk paired with white linen piping.  Of course I love the mirrored night stands – FABULOUS!

I love the exotic wood on the cabinetry, and I find it interesting that she chose vertical graining (horizontal graining is all the rage right now – guess she’s one step ahead).  I LOVE the custom whimsical mirrors and the Urban Archeology light fixtures mounted on marble mosaic tiles.  Notice the “x” bench for her vanity area.

The large curb-less, frameless shower is covered in Bianco Carrara slabs with a nice, large bench.

Jamie is able to continue the clean-lined feel with this structural freestanding 6′ tub.

The floor plan shows how truly unique this bathroom’s floor plan really is.  This might possibly be one of my favorite bathrooms…clean-lined yet glamorous, loaded with exotic woods, mosaic, and white marble – what’s not to love?

{Kelly Wearstler’s Design for The Tides South Beach}

Not one to shy away from making a statement, Kelly Wearstler used hundreds of resin tortoise shells on the walls of the La Marea Restaurant at The Tides South Beach.  Most of the tortoise shells I’ve seen at Round Top or Antiques stores are real, and after confirming with my husband that a turtle must die in order to get their shell, I just couldn’t do it…so I decided to hold out for a great resin version.

img_20051

I spotted this large shell at Mecox in Dallas and it looked like resin to me, but they wanted quite a pretty penny for it.

I’m kind of obsessed with the white version from Mecox – SO CHIC!

I also love the one above placed on a stand.

All was about lost when I was not finding a proper “fake.”  Then I saw this gold beauty calling out my name at Mockingbird Manor in Oklahoma City…

Talk about pumped, it was love at first sight!  Trashy or Classy – I don’t care -I love it, and no turtles were harmed in the making of this awesome accessory!

epley-nightstand

One of the most ingenious night stands I’ve seen is what Lisa Epley did for her daughter’s bedroom.  She purchased three-drawer chests from Ikea and had a local glass store cover them in mirror.  LOVE IT!

I decided for this week’s {late} version of Furniture Friday, I would highlight the night stand.  Now I am definitely not a proponent of the matchy-matchy bedroom suites, but I do like pairs of tables on either side of the bed (even though mine don’t match).

I love the curves of the Burleigh Nightstand – $349 from Rooms To Go.

For some earthy goodness try this teak table from Lekker.

I’m dying to put a pair of these in my parent’s bedroom.  If you live in Dallas make sure to check out the Wisteria outlet.  I either spotted this chest on one similar last time I was there.

When you get tired of these chests in your bedroom, they’d look great flanking a fireplace a la Renea Abbott.

So which one(s) would you love to have in your bedroom?  Do you like pairs, or do you like to mix it up?

I can’t wait until October!!!  College Football season.. Husband’s Birthday… and oh ya – Jan Showers’ book, Glamorous Rooms hits bookstores!  I have never been shy about my love for her work…there is no hollywood glamour kitsch here people- it’s classic, elegant, and BEAUTIFUL.

Here are a few images that were new to me that I found via her blog.

How gorgeous is this Dining Room?!?!   I love the grey/gold color scheme.  I bet this is even prettier in person.

Her space in the David Sutherland Showroom in LA.  I see lots of “latte” cowhide rugs!

Showroom in Dallas.  I’ve always liked the way she treated large blank walls over a sofa.  Often time it’s HUGE mirror with prints on either side.  I think the symmetry really polishes off the room.

I promise you, one of these days I’m going to take a trip to San Francisco specifically for the San Francisco Decorator’s Showcase.  This bedroom designed by the firm, Massucco Warner Miller is so bright and cheerful.  I’m really loving the orange + zebra combo!

turquoise-pillow

MG Readers, I need your help!

I purchased this pillow (that I’ve mentioned before) on Ebay because it has been discontinued and I desperately want a second one.  After many stalker-ish calls to all the Company C locations, I found out that they actually sold all the remaining stock to TJMaxx/Marshall’s/Home Goods.

Never one to back down from a deal hunting challenge, I have already scoured all the stores remotely close to me, and so far I’ve seen the orange and lime green colorways.  The turquoise is the one that I want, so I beg you, if you see it please snatch it up for me (I’ll pay you back I promise)!
