I interrupt our regularly scheduled “Furniture Friday” to bring you my latest obession – CONCETTO! Made by the same people who brought us Caesarstone, this one of a kind countertop material uses cut semi-precious stones mixed with resin to create a low maintenance heat and stain resistant surface.  The possibilities of how you could use this material are endless!  My affinity for rock candy just intensified!

Check out some of their color choices and the unique ways they utilized it…did I mention it could be backlit for more drama?!

Amethyst anyone?  I love how this material can be incorporated into furniture design…

I saw an ad for this in Architectural Digest about 6 months ago and fell in love. Underlit, it would be perfect in our apartment building’s entryway. So I called my local supplier to get a sense of pricing and discovered that it’s about $40,000 per slab. I don’t remember the exact dimensions of their standard slab size, but my memory is that they’re roughly the size of a kitchen island countertop. So, um, no. I have no problem spending money for something really great but there’s no way I could justify this. There are lots of other more affordable ways to get drama and glamor and luxe.

Blimey a little on the pricey side! I suppose for something that unique that’s the going rate!
