Mirrored bathroom sink vanities are nothing short of fabulous.  I’d love one paired with hand-painted wallpaper like Anne Crawford’s bathroom as seen in C Magazine. I love the detail of the vanity recessed into a niche with a mirrored border.

Southern Accents

This Furniture Friday is by reader request!  I’ve already featured dressing tables, so this week I’ve rounded up the petite chairs that go with them…

Averill, of the fabulous blog, Odi et Amo asked me to participate in her fascinating series, “Shop like a Designer.”  Head on over to her blog to see my favorite sources!

I’m loving the subdued colors in this Rosemary Beach home designed by Atlanta designer, Melanie Turner.  It’s a nice change from the “sea” colors you typically see in a home by the water.  All the white slipcovered furniture keeps it light, but the grey tones give it an unexpected moodiness.  I’m liking moodiness right now…and I’d like a beach vacation!

I adore this compact kitchen.  Stainless steel hoods with a strong horizontal element like this one are in crazy demand these days.  The driftwood lamp reminds you that you’re still at the beach!

That’s a lot of seating!  I love the detail over the hallway openings on either side of the hood.

Comfy couches for a raining day at the beach.

I love this landscape!

I still love white bedding…the black shades on the lamp provides a crisp contrast.

For more of Melanie’s work make sure to visit her website.  The living room of the “Chatham” House is one of my all time favorites!

One Vanity: Two Ways

Can this marble-topped console be retrofitted into a sink base and used to create two totally different bathroom looks?  I think so!   My first look is “Punchy Traditional.”  I love this kelly green graphic wallpaper.  I really love the name too – “Reel of Fortune!”

I love the masculine lines of the “Dillion” faucet by Restoration Hardware.

I love this simplistic round sink bowl.

I love the organic lines of this Twig Mirror.

The  Hicks Pendant by Visual Comfort would tie in the black of the vanity and gold of the mirror.

Several baskets from Waterworks would line the open shelves and provide storage.

Look #2:

Same vanity, this time with a more Uptown twist!

The wallpaper and light fixture give the bathroom it’s “pretty.”

The“Ladena”sink balances out the girliness but still maintains elegant lines.

The Kent collection from Restoration Hardware could easily go masculine or feminine.

Furniture Friday: Campaign Style

I have long love the “campaign style” of furniture.  The original concept is actually pretty cool…furniture you can pack up and take on the go!  For a great explanation of this genre that has been around since Roman times, read Buzz Kaplan’s explanation on his blog.

I scored this antique print of “foil” designs for my friend, Libby, at Round Top last weekend.  In its honor I decided to dedicate this Furniture Friday to one of my favorite motifs, the quatrefoil.

Suzanne Kasler uses the motif quite frequently in her designs.  Her “Alexandra” chair for Hickory Chair is a personal favorite!
