CL Beaute Strass Pink

It was LOVE at first sight.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.  I knew these Christian Louboutin beauties could inspire an entire space, so I pulled together a dream living room inspired by the beautiful Beaute Strass pumps.

After spotting this fabulous coat on Emerson Made I immediately emailed my science loving husband to ask if he could please identify the big cat this coat most closely resembles (I really want a “classy” animal print coat).  This was his response:

“Definintely cheetah.  This will make the statement that you are the fastest and most agile of the big cats.”

Um, awesome! Ha ha!  We all can do a quick google search for animal print fashion/decor and find that there are more trashy versions than classy out there.  If home decor really does follow fashion, I wonder if cheetah is the next big thing?

I think we tend to forget that the original version in nature is SO GORGEOUS.

My “classy coat” obsession continued when I spotted this picture of designer Lizzie Bailey in a fabulous cheetah print coat (as seen with Michelle Adams of Rubie Green/Lonny Magazine fame).

Her coat looks pretty similar to the Top Shop one shown in this collage by Who What Wear.

I love this little cheetah print collar!

Yes, please.  Christian Louboution Miss Clichy 140 boots.

I had never before pondered the difference between leopard, cheetah, snow leopard, etc!  I’m liking cheetah a lot!  How about you?

**Disclaimer:  I am by no means a zoology expert.  These items shown may or may not be a good representation of Cheetah print.  If you have any insight as to the differences or discreprencies between the items shown and the actual animal, please leave a comment!  Also, I do not in any way support the killing of cheetahs for their hides…FAUX is fine for me!  Let’s not turn this into an animal rights discussion, it’s just for fun people.

{Gucci Resort 2010 Collection}

When I saw this ensemble, I instantly thought of MG favorite, Nate Berkus…sure enough his portfolio had two runway to reality spaces!  I’m still drooling over that leather jacket by the way…

If I were an outfit, I just might be this ensemble from the Milly Show.  A touch of ethnic paired with subtle glamour and a dash of pink!  I love it!

If you couldn’t just settle for “subtle glamour,’ this blingy pillow would do the trick!

I love, love, love seeing my favorite celebrities and fashion designers in their homes. I’ve heard it said that you either do fashion or interiors well, rarely both. You would think that they go hand-in-hand but trust me, I’ve seen great interior designers in need of a little make-over (or make-under) and uber-chic fashionistas whose homes leave a lot to be desired.

Michael Kors’ home seen above is EXACTLY how I would picture it. I think he “matches” it perfectly. His uniform of black blazer, t-shirt, and jeans is reflected in his apartment with a classic and crisp color scheme of black and white. I think his place personifies the ultimate chic, urban, bachelor pad (no ratty leather recliner in sight).

{for more on her home, visit Bandelle}

I have to admit that the home of uber-stylist and MG favorite, Rachel Zoe, surprised me a little at first. I mean she coined the word, “excessories-” when it comes to fashion she is no minimalist. Her home, however, is a great juxtaposition of her personal style. While her persona is over the top, her home is streamlined and dare I say, neutral. I can totally relate, being surrounded by colors and textures all day, I just want to come home to something totally relaxing without any elements that make me ansy or hyper.

Amy Smilovic’s (of Tibi fame) living room is a great example of how bold color CAN be soothing (and that grey and yellow never seem to get old). By keeping her fabrics and accessories simple, she can add that shot of yellow that really wakes up the room.

I love Molly Sims’ personal style (thanks, Rachel Zoe), I think she is gorgeous and her homes definitely seem to suit her. Designer Kishani Perera of Fuse ID (check out her amazing portfolio) is the design talent responsible for her chic abodes.

I love the living room in her L.A. home just as much as her NYC living room.

Eva Jeanbart Lorenzotti, the creative mind behind Vivre, is the proud owner of my all time favorite closet. I just found the other shots of her home featured in Global Guide, and they do not disappoint. I love the rich textures and colors…her home definitely reflects a cultured, well traveled fashionista!

So, what about you, do you feel like your home matches what’s in your closet?

I have to confess something, I really cringe when I hear the word, “trend.” To me that immediately signals the downfall of something I’ve probably liked for years that will now be everywhere, saturating the market, and I will be eventually worn down to the point that I fall out of love with it a little bit. Now, let me clarify… trends are fun, but I personally have more fun experimenting with them in fashion.  To me putting a trend in your home for the sake of a trend is a little too permanent.  Being a designer and design blogger it can be difficult/annoying to watch your beloved suzani be commercialized to the point of a sale rack at Target (not that I don’t shop the sale racks at Target).  So when we talk about trends it is definitely a love/hate kind of thing!
Interlocking links or chain link is an example something I have always liked that now seems to be everywhere (but right now in a good way). I love it because it is such a simple design with humble origins yet it has become iconic (Thanks to Hermes and Chanel).

The Chaine D’Ancre pattern from Hermes has an underlying equestrian feel.

Lauren Conrad carries a classic Chanel bag with the signature chain link straps.

Chunky chain gold jewelry is an accessory staple for me (J Crew bracelets).

This link “motif” has been around a long time. I LOVED these windows at St. Peter’s in Rome.

This ingenious D.I.Y. shelf was showcased in the late Blueprint Magazine but I found it here.

These slinky chain metal curtains add amazing texture to this sleek room.

These bath mats are a pretty literal interpretation.

Bedding on sale from Pottery Barn.

Glass Links chandelier from Z Gallerie.

Nate Berkus used a lot of chain link in his collection for the late Linens N’ Things.

A favorite mirror from Mecox.

This neutral pillow is great if you want to add just a hint of the pattern.

Nordstrom “Etched Key” Vase.
I leave you with the immortal words of Billy Baldwin, “Be faithful to your own taste because nothing you really like is ever out of style.”
