Hi All!  Happy New Year!  It’s been a really busy time around here…You know Christmas, New Years, Sadie turned 1.  I can’t believe that happened.   I wanted to share a few pictures from my little one’s big day.  We actually had her party on New Year’s Eve (during the day).  Naturally hosting a party for 25-30 in our two bedroom apartment sent me into a little bit of a tailspin, but we had so much fun at the party!

The theme was basically “girly zoo.”  That means lots of pink and oranges!

I hope you enjoyed the photos!  Here’s to a fresh, new year!

Who says sectionals have to be brown leather and clunky?  I’m currently working on a space where a sectional is the answer to all our problems.  I’m looking for a relatively clean-lined one that still has character.  Kind of dying over the curved Windsor Smith beauty below!

Jonathan Adler makes two very good looking sectionals, the “Lampert” above and “Danner” below.

The two sectionals above are from Lee Industries.

B & B Italia

“Cielo” Sectional from CB2

We’re TOTALLY counting this “Faceted Curved Sofa” from Windsor Smith as a sectional because it’s awesome.

“Gramercy” Sectional from Bernhardt Interiors

What do I love more than an upholstered bed?  An upholstered headboard/iron canopy combo!  This room is pure perfection in my eyes.  I love the large pattern on the rug and headboard, and the mainly solid fabrics everywhere else.  This bedroom is in Tara Shaw’s house.

Clean simple with a pop of color – just how I like my bedrooms! Room by Kara Mann.

This looks like a Phoebe Howard bedroom to me.  Love the textured headboard with the iron canopy.

The Tara Shaw bed!  I think it’s perfect.

This Bed by Restoration Hardware has great lines.  I would slipcover the headboard & foot-board. It’s on sale now too for a great price!

For a cleaner lines, go with this “Marco” bed from Oly Studio.

Possibly my favorite, the “Diego” Bed also from Oly.

Not necessarily wrought iron, but I had to include this mirrored number also from Oly.  Gorgeous!

Love this one from Restoration Hardware Baby & Child

Milo Ray Baughman, Jr., a World War II veteran turned interior designer turned furniture designer, is one of the most influential furniture designers of the latter part of the 20th Century.  Long before it was commonplace for interior designers to receive lucrative licensing deals with large furniture companies, Mr. Baughman created a collection for Drexel Heritage.  It was however, his fifty year collaboration with Thayer Coggin Inc. that produced some of his most iconic designs.

1st Dibs is obviously a great resource for his pieces that have become hot commodities with Interior Designers.  Scour your local antique and vintage shops as well for his pieces or pieces influenced by his work.

Here is a sampling of my favorite pieces…

Simply gorgeous.

A more affordable pair.

Now that’s a “recliner” I could get behind!

Simple but beautiful.

Looks like a good time.

Glass & Bleached Oak Cabinet.

I leave you with a pair of hot pink chairs for your consideration.  I need pink in my house and it hasn’t happened yet.  Well my office IS peachy-pink so that’s pretty close.   Have a great weekend!

I’m really into fewer, but larger scaled statements in a room.  I love not only the drama, but the architectural quality that pedestals bring to a room.

Jan Showers loves ’em in Dining Rooms.

I love this little French white marble pedestal from Ebay

Pair of marble pedestals also from Ebay

BUDGET FIND!  Lucite & Glass Pedestals via Minty.  P.S. have you heard about Minty yet?  If not, you should have! Check it out here.

First two images from my Pinterest.  Image above I believe is by Jamie Herzlinger.

I love little (or big) breakfast areas.  It’s a great place for a built in banquette or mis-matched table and chairs like the image above.

Here are a few tables that would be great in a Breakfast Room/Small Eating Area.

The “Directoire” Table by Tritter Feefer.  A blank canvas in my opinion!

I really, really love this table.

This FF is for my Mom 🙂  We’ve been looking for the perfect floor screen to conceal all my Dad’s speakers/amps/music equipment in their Music Room/Studio/Media Room.  All the electronics and wires have become an eye-sore, so we need a pretty, easy way to hide the stuff!

Um, yes please.

“Serena” screen by Oly as seen in the top image

Does this not SCREAM “Rat Pack Music Room?”

I spotted this one on Joss & Main…I like it because my parent’s  room is painted Charcoal Gray.

Above two beauties from Currey & Co

A little bougie but it’s okay 🙂 Just pair with an antique ethnic rug and vintage lighting.  It also comes in white which would be perfect in a teen girls’ room.

I leave you with a little DIY.  This is actually amazing.  A canvas screen waiting for you to put your touch on it. I’ve thought about attempting to construct my own screen to then DIY, but those thoughts stayed in Home Depot staring at a wall of bi-fold doors. But this – endless possibilities.  So chic painted black in a black & white space.  Cover it in an amazing wallpaper and put it behind a crib!  This was going to be my project – where was this a year ago (it was probably on overstock.com)??

You can find floor screen from $$$$$ to $ – just keep your eyes open!  Especially in vintage/re-sale/antique shops.  I have an awesome orange & navy Chinoiserie number I scored for $100 at my favorite OKC store, Mockingbird Manor.

I love it when other bloggers list items they’re obsessed with, so I thought I’d give it a try!

I adore these Smith & Hawken for Target baskets.  I have at least four!  Great for pretty much everything, and the chalkboard on the front is a really fun touch.  They have a taller round size and a shorter version that’s perfect for magazines.

I smelled this in a client’s home and ran out and bought it that afternoon…Nest Candle in “Blue Garden

Just bought the “Mink” version yesterday and I love it!  They’re on sale right now so I think it’s a great value.  Faux Fur throws by Restoration Hardware

Best. Sandwich. Ever.  I make this constantly for lunch.  Balsamic Caprese Panini

Another obsession – Olive Oil.  They were sampling this  Rustico de Casa Asaro Olive Oil at HEB one day and I LOVE it.  It’s a really big bottle and it was around $12 I think.
What are you loving these days??

This FF is dedicated to a great accent piece of furniture – the bench. Whether for function or beauty, I’m a big fan of utilizing a bench in a variety of scenarios. From Living Rooms to bedrooms, there always seems to be a spot for a cool bench!

Hallways and Entries are another perfect spot for a bench. I love the clean lines of this one.

This bench – clearly just for looks 🙂 Via 1stDibs

Above two benches from Mecox Gardens

I’m a big fan of kilim benches – this one is from Overstock.

You just can’t go wrong with a linen tufted bench! From Jayson Home & Garden

This lucite beauty found via 1st Dibs would look great re-upholstered.

Naturally I had to throw in a pair of mirrored benches.
Do you have any benches in your home? I actually don’t but want to change that!

I mean, really?! I could die. I LOVE this kitchen. Anyone know who designed it? I found it via Pinterest.

From the Portfolio of Leslie Sinclair of Segreto Finishes

Love the mirror insert on the island side panels
Could you have a full-out Dining Room in the middle of your kitchen? I have to say I’ve designed a lot of kitchens, but haven’t done this one yet. It sure looks pretty!
A study in contrasts…I also really like the stainless steel accent on the hood.

Dark and moody – just how I like ’em!

Lighting is everything. These pendants are like the fabulous turquoise earrings that you wear with everything.
Another “Eat-In” kitchen. I say, why not? As long as you aren’t a two-cook kitchen and you have ample prep space. For me, personally, I pretty much destroy the kitchen when I cook, so I don’t think I’d want to look at the mess I just made while I ate! Thoughts??
