I’ve  just returned from an amazing few days at High Point Market in North Carolina! I was invited to attend and tour the Lexington Home Brands headquarters (more on that in an upcoming post). But first wanted to share some highlights of the past few days’ events and experiences!

Had the best time ever hanging out with these fabulous bloggers: (l-r) Christian of Maison21, Julieann of Create Girl, me, Cassandra of Coco + Kelley, Ashlina of The Decorista, Crystal of Plush Palate & Rue Magazine, and Katie of The Neo Traditionalist & Matchbook Magazine.

On the very first evening upon arriving at High Point, we were invited to meet Charles, the 9th Earl Spencer (Princess Diana’s brother) at the Theodore Alexander showroom.

The Althrop Collection features over 500 years of English tradition and heritage.

On Day 2, we went over to the IHFC (International Home Furnishings Center) to check out the Elite Leather Company space.

Next, we headed over to Visual Comfort where Paloma (also of the blog La Dolce Vita) gave us a tour of the Circa Lighting collections.

From there, Katie & I headed over to Market Square for a book signing event hosted by Rizzoli featuring Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Mary McDonald, Suzanne Kasler, Bobby McAlpine, Michael Connors, Henrietta Churchill Spencer, & Florence de Dampierre.

Early the next morning we were invited to attend the press breakfast with Martyn Lawrence Bullard where he gave us highlights and excerpts on his most famous client’s & their interiors!

After the press breakfast, Katie & I, along with Erin of the blog Elements of Style headed over to Lexington Home Brands for an exclusive tour (more on that next!).

Back again at High Point headquarters, we happen to meet Deborah Needleman, former editor of Domino magazine and current editor of the WSJ magazine. She had just spoken at an event at High Point & given away copies of her book, “The Perfectly Imperfect Home.”

The rest of the afternoon, we checked out InterHall at the IHFC wrapping up with cocktail hour at the very cool Global Views space – thanks to Erin for hosting us!

The last event of our few day’s at High Point was the anticipated (& packed!) party hosted by Four Hands in a very cool industrial showroom.

I recently came across the Lilly Pulitzer Home Collection at Horchow, featuring a line of furniture and accents. I had previously seen the bedding line at Garnet Hill, but hadn’t realized there was a furniture collection too! I’m really liking some of the items in the collection – especially the desk and accent chest featured above and below!

I had been searching for a counter bench for a client project, inspired by the picture above.

Then just the other day as I was looking through the latest issue of House Beautiful magazine:

Awhile back, I came across these fun chairs with some straightforward and sassy messages! Couldn’t help but think one of these chairs in a room would add some whimsy!  With messages like, “OMG” and “Time Out” – definitely a conversation starter should one walk into a room with a chair like one of these.

The chairs are the work of artist Sarah Ashley Longshore, based in New Orleans.  Her artwork is embroidered on vinyl  that she uses to reupholster antique chairs. Sarah says, “Everything in New Orleans is about art and music and fabulous houses – that’s what’s inspired me to create these chairs.”

As I was doing some client sourcing today, I came across these colorful Platner Stools on Design Within Reach.  Designed by Warren Platner in the 60′s and manufactured by Knoll, they remain a true ode to modernism and yet quite stylish for today’s interiors.  Each stool requires as many as 1,000 welds and crafted out of wire and space.  The stool comes in array of colors, both fabric and leather.  Love them!

Many may recall this image of a fun and modern nursery that was featured in the late Domino magazine.  I have heard from so many people (bloggers and clients alike) – how much they love it and how great the striped ceiling is.  (So inspirational, that I used it as a concept for a nursery project that I did for a client.)

One thing I often find when designing nurseries for clients is that they want room to grow, for the nursery to transition well once the baby outgrows the crib.  (Thanks to the crib conversions out there – an easy solution!) I thought it was neat to see the same nursery above photographed with the conversion of the bed and full of toddler’s toys – transitioning to a very practical room.

For furnishings such as these, check out both Modern Nursery and Oeuf NYC. I have been using both resources lately for current nursery projects I am working on and espeially love the Oeuf cribs and beds.

Lately, I have been doing an incredible amount of furnishing sourcing for client projects – today specifically researching and sourcing area rugs, pillows, and poufs.  In my “internet travels” I came across Calypso and loving their home goods section, especially the collection of area rugs, pillows, and poufs – coincidentally everything I was looking for!

What a great idea – alphabet chairs! Based in the Netherlands, graphic design Roeland Otten has created these prototype chairs and stools consisting of all twenty six letters of the alphabet.  They are one-off limited editions made of lacquered MDF.  How fun would it be to spell out your name with a set of these chairs!
