I’m beyond excited about Amanda’s new collection that is now available at The Urban Electric company.  Trust me when I say that each fixture is even more stunning in person but you’ll get a pretty good idea from the images on the website.  Amanda has always been one of my favorite designers because of her ability to use color without being too loud and clashy.  You’ll see her use of color in her lighting collection as well,  and the best part is that they can all be customized to work perfectly in your space.  If you have a particular paint color in mind just tell the folks at UE and they’ll “do it your way”

Arco Floor Lamp for SALE

Sometimes working in the industry means you’re in on some of the best design deals out there.  If anyone is interested in an original Arco floor lamp (see photos below) please contact me for details.  This lamp is 100% authentic and the owner has the documentation to prove it!  It was originally purchased from the MOMA (and still resides in NYC) almost 4 years ago but is still in perfect condition.  For those of you who don’t know anything about the Arco floor lamp, here’s a little history:

Arco Floor Lamp – White Base Inspired by the design of a streetlight, the Castiglioni brothers’ dramatic steel and marble Arco Floor Lamp (1962) provides overhead lighting without requiring ceiling suspension. Supported by a weighty marble base, the Lamp’s polished stainless steel shade extends eight feet into a space, leaving room for a dining table or sofa to be positioned underneath the light source. To make the Lamp easier to carry and move, the designers placed a hole in the base that accommodates a broom handle. The edges of the marble block are beveled, which might appear to be decorative, but the real reason the brothers removed the block’s sharp corners was for safety. Designed by Achille Castiglioni and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for Flos, the Arco Lamp is one of the classics of modern lighting design and is part of MoMA’s permanent collection.

As you can see this lamp would be a beautiful addition to any room

I’ve been shopping for ceiling fixtures for clients a ton lately and I’ve come across a lot that i like.  I even dug up my old source book and found some of my favorite fixtures that have caught my eye in the past.  The dining room and kitchen are two rooms that are begging for great fixtures centered over the table.  If your table isn’t lit up with an eye catching fixture, it’s time to shed a little light on the situation.
