Happy New Year!  2014 proved to be an eventful year for Lauren Haskett Fine Design in the best way possible – we celebrated great completed projects, amazing press, and the birth of my second baby girl, Emerson Louise in March.  A week after Emerson’s birth we were honored to receive the Paper City Design Award for Best Residential Kitchen (shown above).

We were also thrilled to learn that a long time client would be published in the 2014 Winter Issue of Trad Home Magazine highlighting her work as Creative Director of High Fashion Home, a Houston institution founded by her parents.  I loved collaborating with her on her beautiful home.

The very first room I assisted her with was the Kitchen when she was building her home.  I drew up the plans and worked with my client and designer, Sara Eliason (who was consulting with her as she built her home),  to take the plans from paper to reality!

After the home had been built and my client was able to live in each space she had a better idea of how she needed each room to function.  I was called in to bring completion and cohesion mainly to the Family Room, Dining Room, and Master Bedroom .

In her Family Room (shown above) she had already purchased her sofa, art above the sofa, tv console and had the pair of  chairs on the right (we had them recovered in the navy Jim Thompson ikat).  The goal was to marry the clean lines of her home with a more comfortable family friendly feel but without sacrificing style (what every family wants!).  The rug was the missing element – once I found inspiration for the pattern, we then worked with Madison Lily Rugs to pick our colors and have the rug custom made.  I am a big believer in custom pillows to finish off the room and of course that Hermes throw doesn’t hurt either!  The agate end table was one of my favorite finds!  The navy and gray colors in the top worked with our scheme perfectly.  The geometric velvet on the lucite based round stools are playful and are a nod to the great clean lined architecture of the home.

The Master Bedroom’s great bones were accentuated with the custom Velvet Roman Shades with with Greek fret detail, new bedding, lamps, and the recovering of this amazing chair (seen below) in one of my favorite Schumacher fabrics.

The Dining Room was upgraded with an antiqued mirror wall, new chairs, rug, accessories, and amazing buffet I spotted while shopping at the High Point Market.   amherst-066 amherst-074 amherst-083
